A schoolgirl sparked panic on a packed Tube train when she repeatedly screamed shes got a bomb.

The 14-year-old was on a Victoria Line train with her friend, also 14, on October 25 last year, when she began shouting at passengers.

Fearing for their lives, the passengers crouched down in anticipation of an explosion, as the train travelled from Green Park to Victoria.

Other passengers tried to move down the carriage away from the bomb threat.

At Victoria station, passengers pulled the emergency cord and the police were called.

When the passengers realised it was a hoax, some of them challenged the girls.

One woman grabbed the second girls sleeve to stop her running away, but the child became verbally abusive and spat in her eye.

The British Transport Police (BTP) later managed to identify both girls, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The first girl, from Brent, north-west London, was found guilty of making a bomb hoax and handed a 12-month Youth Rehabilitation Order.

The second child, from Lambeth, south London, was found guilty of assault and criminal damage and handed an 8-month Youth Rehabilitation Order.

Inspector Andy Hickling from BTP, said: I am outraged by the actions of these senseless and immature girls.

On a busy Tube carriage one of them shouted there was a bomb, causing passengers to be terrified that their lives were about to end.

Given the tragic and harrowing events during 2017, it is impossible to understand why these girls thought this was a clever idea.

I am grateful to the officers that were on scene swiftly to reassure the public and make sure that these girls were arrested.

Siwan Hayward, Director of Compliance, Policing and On-Street, at Transport for London, said: Everyone has the right to travel without fear or intimidation and we work closely with the police to keep our network safe.

The actions of these girls was foolish and created widespread fear amongst passengers. I hope this conviction makes anyone think twice about their behaviour.
