A police force has been accused of dehumanising homeless people after posting pictures boasting about clearing their belongings.
Camden Police tweeted before and after pictures of tents and belongings in Tottenham Mews calling it an environmental issue.
The tweet used the hashtag #MultiAgencyApproach suggesting the police had worked with the council and social services before clearing the tents and belongings.
The tweet provoked a furious response on Twitter with people accusing the force of being cold-hearted and cruel.
JC replied: Well done, youve further dehumanised people who are already hanging by a thread.
Mike Steele said: So did you find accommodation for the people you environmentally cleansed?
David Anderson added: ”Environmental issues” you mean humans that have been failed by society and now by you?
Melanie H said: These are human beings not effin environmental issues! What an absolutely disgraceful and frankly shocking tweet from the police! I thought your job was to help people FFS Im truly disgusted! Are you a Tory tweeter?
Lesley Timbs added: Hard to believe youve even tweeted this and made yourselves look so heartless, totally disgusting.
And what did you do with the homeless people's stuff? Probably threw it away.
