Detective Inspector Patrick Goodrich of GMPs city of Manchester team said: My thoughts are with the injured men, particularly the man who is in a more serious condition in hospital.

This knife attack happened when people were out enjoying the city, doing what they should be, having a great time.

It is devastating that knives are being brought onto our streets and putting lives in danger, now three men who should have been enjoying themselves have ended up in hospital.

This is a busy area, with lots of people around, I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

We have three teenage boys arrested but our investigation is not over.
