The family of a student who went missing just days before his 20th birthday is desperately appealing for help to find him.

Adam Seaton went missing on Thursday last week and his red Ford Fiesta was later found parked near marshland in Southport, Merseyside.

His mother Karen, dad Andy and sister Helen, 22, appealed for anyone with dashcam footage of the area to come forward.

Mr Seaton said: Adam was a geography student at Edge Hill University and some of his proposed work was to do with those marshes.

That to us is the biggest clue, or the biggest potential reason, why he might go there.

What we dont know is, assuming Adam is the one who parked the car there, we really dont know where he has gone from there.

Mr and Mrs Seaton said they had last seen their son, who had just finished his second year of university, the night before his disappearance, when he returned to their Southport home from a night out with friends.

Both left for work before Adam was up in the morning and when they returned that afternoon they assumed he had been called into work at Morrisons, or he was out with friends.

They grew concerned when his older sister spotted the car by the Marshside Nature Reserve.

Mr Seaton said: Adam is personable, sociable, very friendly. Hes got a good group of friends and hes an adult leader with the local scouts.

He added: The last week has been difficult, very difficult. Weve had a lot of help from family, friends and workmates.

Mrs Seaton said dashcam footage could be key to working out what had happened to Adam.

She said: We know he was in Ainsdale between 12pm and 1pm and were pretty sure it was 5pm onwards that he went to the reserve but we dont know.

Adams family issued an appeal to find him (Picture: PA)

Even if there is anyone who thinks what they know is insignificant, please come forward, the police have had nothing.

Mr Seaton said: If I could speak to Adam Id say get in touch with us as a family, get in touch with friends, get in touch with anyone, police or the missing persons charity, just to let us know hes safe and well. Obviously we want him home.
