Beyoncé has done more to promote the needs of the Afro American community than anyone else in recent times.

When shes not dressing her backing dancers like Black Panthers, shes openly supporting Black Lives Matter in her music videos, celebrating black beauty and being a global ambassador for black excellence.

And now, shes collaborating with fashion house Balmain for a three-piece collection that will see 100% of the proceeds going towards the United Negro College Fund.

Founded by Frederick D Patterson and Mary McLeod Bethune, the fund has raised more than £3.6 billion since its inception in 1944, and has helped more than 450,000 students attend historically Black universities.

Balmains creative director, Olivier Rousteing, tells Vogue: This is something important and this collaboration is talking to the new generation and saying you can get that piece, you can be a part of the history.

I couldnt see myself in the future, in a way, because there were not so many people in the 80s or early 90s that could show me a direction. For me, working with Beyoncé, its more than only music. Its about history, working with a woman thats going to be part of the history and has made her own revolution, not only in music, not only in fashion. She is an icon to an entire generation and so many more generations can follow the steps of Beyoncé and say, “You give us hope, you make us dream”.

This isnt the first bit of philanthropy to come out of Beyoncés Coachella appearance either.

She already made a $100,000 donation to four historically Black colleges after her set.

The donation was the main goal of this collaboration, Olivier says.

We dont forget where we come from. This is really, really important—I come from an orphanage, you know. I think there is something really emotional about our collaboration.

The Beyoncé-Balmain collection is going to be based on the Balmain hoodie the singer wore at this years Coachella.

The sorority-inspired graphic hoodie will go on sale from 13 July, and will be available in pink and yellow, along with a black t-shirt sporting the same design.
